In the opinion of the "Sessio-Art'2003" organizers the worthiest review of the event is an article by Elena Pavlova in an independent newspaper "Vitebsky Kurier". By the author's permission we quote some of participants' responses

"Sessio-Art" encourages students to be daring and independent in their creative work. It's not a demonstration of some schools but an opportunity to express one's individuality. I recognized my students here not by their works but by their names only. And I think it's great!

NICKOLAY GUGNIN, a Jury member

"When I got an invitation I was sure I would see something absolutely fascinating. And I turned to be right. In every single work the talent of both student and teacher could be seen. I liked most graphics, sculpture and personal projects"

SYLVIE LEMASSON, a councilor of the Embassy of France in Belarus

"In main exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts in Riga student's exhibitions are held annually. In "Basteis" gallery are showed some art works of students too. But there is no such art festivity like "Sessio-Art" there. That is why I consider it a fabulous event. We like everything here: people, town, art! We're just delighted with all this.

NATALIA USHAKOVA & ELENA LAVRINOVICH , participants of the contest, Riga

The participation of Latvian students in "Sessio-Art" became possible thanks to PETERIS GEMS, a president of open public foundation "Radigars"
"An administrative support was up to the mark, both from the Consulate of Latvia in Vitebsk and from Belarusian Embassy in Latvia. I would like Latvian business community to turn face upon culture relationship between our counties. In fact just Latvian foundation "Culture capital" and I provided moneyed assistance for this event.

"Undoubtedly, most of works in this exhibition are accordant to modern art tendencies. At the same time there are some distinctive features like "culture of colour" in painting, sculpture and in applied art works as well. It's obvious, all the participants of "Sessio-Art" are well-informed people, and the only thing to regret is insufficiently developed discussion field. Actually, it's splendid that there's an opportunity for communication between creative people from Belarus, Russia and Latvia, for mutual enrichment. Everything they see here is estimated and absorbed, so it helps each of them to open energetically and to develop".

MIKHAIL BOROZNA - pro-rector of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts

"My long experience of work in the National Museum of Republic of Belarus taught me that one should have tolerant approach to all the art directions and to find some merits in any of them. A language of fine art, just like any other language lives in its own time and certainly changes. In case it doesn't happen, this language comes to decay and dies. For example, there's English language, French, Russian and side by side with them there's Latin language. It's a language too, but it's used to a much smaller extent, though nobody can reject its advantages. The same thing we see in art, the most important are pictorial qualities and competence. Everybody follows his own way. In spite of the fact that we are different and live in different countries, where various art schools exist, all of us are integrated into the world art process. We absorb it and we live in it whether we want it or not".

NICKOLAY POGRANOVSKY - art historian, a contest Jury chairman, Minsk
